Pet Assisted Therapy

What is pet assisted therapy and how can it help you? Pet assisted therapy can provide comfort during a tough therapy session. For most people, the presence of an animal prompts the body to release serotonin, prolactin and oxytocin which provide an emotional boost.  We use our pet assisted therapy dogs in a few different ways from comfort to learning about ADHD, impulse control, learning to make good choices and much more. Jeanene also teaches clients that have a special connection with their own pet at home to use them to help reduce depression and anxiety symptoms.

Elijah

Elijah

Elijah is a 8 year old male smooth coat red dapple miniature dachshund that has been assisting in therapy since he was a pup. Elijah teaches children and teens about how to make good choices and how cope with anxiety. You will commonly find Elijah working with either Sally or Cheyenne to help ADHD client's learn how to focus and stay on task. Elijah is always up for a good chin scratching.

Mustang Sally

 Mustang Sally

Mustang Sally is a 5 year old female wire hair miniature dachshund and like Elijah she has been assisting in the therapy office since she was a pup. Sally works mainly with client's that have had trauma or have had a difficult day and need comforting while discussing these hard issues in the therapy office. Sally works with children, teens, and adults. She will lay beside you as you talk and so you can stroke her fur and have her comfort you.

Cheyenne

Cheyenne

Cheyenne is the youngster in the group.  Cheyenne is  an 3 yr  old chocolate long hair miniature dachshund that has followed in Sally and Elijah's footsteps by seeing clients as a pup and continues to  learn her role as a therapy assistance dog.  Cheyenne can be a little bit shy at times but warms up fast. Cheyenne likes to play the good choice game and loves to chase her ball down the hallway.
